RIVERSIDE GARDENS

Riverside Gardens will be the beating heart of Smithfield Riverside, breathing new life into area through the provision of a new urban green space, trees and planting, while helping to improve biodiversity in the town centre.

Part of the redevelopment will include some raised terraced seating overlooking the River Severn and the Welsh Bridge on one side and out onto the Recreational Space on the other. The Recreational Space is an open area to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the town centre, the perfect spot to eat lunch or meet up with friends, with the potential for outdoor food vendors to operate there.

The section further along towards the town centre will feature a play area and climbing boulder for children and adults of all ages.

Riverside Gardens will be planted with new trees and plants for pollinators - boosting biodiversity in the town centre and providing shade during the summer. The park will collect surface water runoff into Rain Gardens, which will create new habitats for birds and invertebrates, and help to alleviate surface water flooding in the area.
